About Us

Coos Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.

Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Mission statement: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build affordable, safe, and environmentally conscious homes. Volunteers (like yourself) help provide most of the labor, while individual and corporate donors provide the money and materials necessary to build our Habitat homes.

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Our mission here at Coos Bay Area Habitat is based on the belief that no one should have to live in substandard housing. With the help of every day people like yourself, we come one step closer to achieving that goal every day.

To date, Coos Bay Area Habitat for Humanity has provided twenty-four families, 33 adults and 58 children, a hand-up out of substandard housing.  This year we are working tirelessly to provide our 24th home.

Our programs do NOT provide people with hand outs, but rather a hand-up out of substandard housing. Whether its  building them a home or helping to fix the one they already own, our families invest hundreds of hours of labor (sweat equity) into Habitat builds and our Brush With Kindness program. The families buy their homes with a no interest mortgage, which Coos Bay Habitat then uses to fund  the next home. This hand-up not only helps our families, but the community as well. The families property taxes help to support our local schools and government.
